Cases play various roles
The Case for Support will serve a variety of purposes during your fundraising campaign. As the key articulation of your vision, mission and funding Needs, it will be used regularly by all of the key people involved with your campaign. When you are in your quiet phase of your campaign, for example, you will use the Case to recruit your Campaign Chairman and your senior volunteers. They will want to see it to reassure themselves that you are well prepared and professionally organized for major gift campaign fundraising before they will consider committing themselves.
Similarly, whenever you or your volunteers visit a prospective donor, the prospect will need to see your Case. You or your volunteers may use the Case as a talking tool during your initial cultivation presentation with prospects, or as a leave-behind.
The Case is also invaluable for educational purposes. It helps to bring new volunteers up to speed quickly about your organization and your campaign. It lends a sense of credibility and professionalism to your campaign, while also helping volunteers to feel more confident and comfortable about their pitch when they go out on calls on your behalf.
